1219 OLD BUSINESS
- The minutes from the June 2, 2025 meeting were emailed to members and posted on the website.

- First Vice President Robert Sbarra provided a report on Events and Social Gatherings.
- In June, the Day at the Races was well attended and was a great event
- In July, the Picnic was well attended and enjoyed by everyone, despite a bit of foul weather.
- The 38 Heroes Softball Tournament is scheduled for September 8, 2025. Anyone wishing to play is encouraged to sign up; All are encouraged to participate and cheer on the teams.
- The Annual September 11th Mass, a tradition since 2002, will take place at Journal Square.
- Pete Seamon is accepting donations for the Tunnels to Towers event and fundraiser.
- LEOSA Update provided by HR218 Chairman Jack Giordano
- Please visit the NJSPBA Local 600 website for membership information and for updates regarding the carrying of firearms by retired LEOs
- 50/50 Raffle tickets are available – Drawing to take place at the holiday party in December. Please see/contact John O’Donnell to purchase tickets ($50)
- Hearing Aid and Benefit Contact forms were made available to members and distributed at the center table in the meeting room.
- A new laptop computer acquisition was approved at the January 9, 2025 meeting and was purchased at a cost of $ 4,500
- Sign up for the PARPA “Mail Chimp” email account via the PARPA website to receive correspondence and stay up to date on announcements, events and notifications.
1235 NEW BUSINESS
- PARPA announced a vacancy for the position of Trustee on June 9, 2025
- 2 members submitted the names for nomination, with 1 subsequently withdrawn.
- George Leather remained as the sole nominee for the position of Trustee
Motion to Approve George Leather to serve as Trustee for the term expiring in September 2026 – Bongiovanni; Motion Seconded by Mocik.

- PARPA formed a Membership Review Committee, as previously announced and accepted volunteers to serve in this capacity. The committee will be responsible for formulating the new member application process and to receive and approve all such applications for membership into PARPA. The committee will meet in the near future to establish the process and protocols.
- Recording Secretary Brett Porigow was selected to serve as the committee chairman with Vinny Zappulla, John O’Donnell, Mike Barry, Joe Morris and Mike Bucholz serving as committee members.
- A time change for the annual holiday party was discussed, with the possibility of changing the time to an earlier start time ( 12 or 3pm instead of 6 pm)
- A discussion ensued and a non-binding hand vote was conducted with the majority of the members indicating that the 6pm start time was the preferred option
- Jack Giordano brought up the idea of moving the location of the holiday party to a more central location in consideration of our members’ commute to the Fiest in Woodridge, NJ, where the gathering has been taking place each year. Staten Island was suggested as a possibility for this event. A brief discussion ensued, and further consideration will take place.
- The PARPA website, with annual fees and maintenance cost of approximately $ 500, has new features for our members. These include an “Add Event to My Calendar” tabs and a “Forms” section where members can access hearing aid forms, death notification procedure and benefit contact numbers, address change forms, confirmation of age (75) for applicable members, and Items for Sale. Also added is the image of the PARPA mission statement with audio.
